How do I become a web author?
Look for quartlerly Web Author training. This is listed with the regular computer training announcements.
How do I get content on the site if I'm not a web author?
View our Web Author Directory and locate a author within your department. If there are no web authors listed within your department, contact the Web Support team at wwwadmin@co.wake.nc.us.
What if I forget my User Name or Password?
Contact the help desk at 212-7676. Tell them that you need your Windows network user name and/or password.
What if I want to change my password?
Your web login password is the same as the password you use to login to your computer. Contact the help desk at 212-7676 and tell them that you would like to reset your Windows network password.
I would like to have an item featured on the home page, how do I do this?
Request the feature box space by contacting the Web Administrator at wwwadmin@co.wake.nc.us. You will be placed onto a schedule for this. Please note that many departments request this space months in advance.

I'm a web author and when I go into edit mode, I see a red X or I just can't get into edit mode. How do I fix this?
You need to install a small file on your computer. You can view a movie on how to do this by clicking here, or follow these steps:
- Click Start->Settings->Control Panel and double click Add/Remove Programs.
- In the left pane of the Add/Remove Programs window click the Add New Programs button.
- In the right pane click the Add button for MCMSWebAuthorControl. This will install the control.
- Close all windows and log in to the site to confirm that you are now able to edit content.
I know I'm a Web Author, but I can't edit may page:
Most likely someone else has recently edited this page and has not submitted the change to us. When this happens the page has been locked. To see which staff member is or has recently edited the page, look under "Status Information" on your page. Contact the person and ask them to submit the page. If you still have trouble, contact us at wwwadmin@co.wake.nc.us or call 919-856-7340.
I can't save my page:
Most likely there is something on the page preventing it from saving. This is usually a bad link to a document attachment or an image that you do not have rights to use. Double check all the links on your page. Make sure that all the images and document attachments that you have on your page are in Resource Gallery folders you have access to.
I just got a message that saying that "Save failed," what should I do?
You should have some options in the blue bar. Most likely you will want to "Save regardless." If you don't have this option, refresh your brower. If you get a message that reads page can not load, refresh again.
