Triangle Transit Vanpools
The Triangle Transit runs more than 50 vanpool routes with more under development. The cost is dependent upon how many riders there are in the pool and the length of the trip. Wake County gives vanpools preference in downtown parking lots.

Triangle
Transit Authority Emergency Ride Home Program
Many
people would like to take a bus, carpool or vanpool to work, but
are concerned that if a child gets sick or some other emergency
occurs, they won't be able to get home in a timely manner.
The
Triangle Transit Authority recognizes this problem and has established
an Emergency Ride Home Program for full-time or permanent part-time
employees who take a bus, vanpool or carpool ride bicycle or walk
to work.
In
order to qualify for the program, please register at http://www.gotriangle.org/ERH/index.html - signup. The Triangle Transit Authority will mail you a voucher
for your first Emergency Ride Home and a questionnaire.
Then,
if one of the following happens while you are at work on a day you
have taken an alternative means of transportation:
- You
or an immediate family member suffers from an illness or severe
crisis,
- You
must work unscheduled overtime,
- Your
ridesharing driver has to stay late or leave early
You
may call a participating taxi (if your home is less than 20 miles
from work) or a participating rental car company (if your home is
more than 20 miles from work). You may use the voucher as payment
for the trip. Any tip to the taxi driver or gasoline used in the
rental car is your responsibility.
