303 Salary Adjustments

A department head or his designee(s) has the discretion to grant in-band salary adjustments to recognize job changes not significant enough to warrant reclassification, to respond to labor market conditions, to establish equitable salary relationships, or for other business-related reasons. Temporary employees may receive in band adjustments based on performance. However, regular employees may not receive in band adjustments based on performance.

A statement of justification must be submitted to Human Resources explaining the rationale for the adjustment.  Human Resources reviews the justification for compliance with policy and forwards all policy compliant requests to Budget for fund identification purposes.  Increases over 10% require approval of the County Manager or his designee.  Departments are responsible for submitting the Employee Action Form after notification that the increase has met policy review guidelines and/or received approval.

Salary adjustments will become effective at the beginning of the pay period following the submission date. Retroactive adjustments require approval of the County Manager or his designee.
