State and/or County Contracts

Top  Previous  Next

Wake County, as a local government, has access to thousands of different products through existing state contracts and county contracts. These contracts offer good quality products at very competitive pricing. These State contracts have been bid by the State Division of Purchase and Contract so we may purchase the specific items contained in the contracts from the specified vendor (at the specified price) without having to bid them.

If a purchase is $1,000.00 or over, Procurement Services will make every effort to utilize state and county contracts to provide quality items at excellent prices. Even though a purchase may be less than $1,000.00 and no purchase order is required, there is still an obligation to ensure that any purchase is prudent and fiscally sound. Purchasing items of less than $1,000.00 from these contracts will meet that requirement.

Procurement Services' staff is available to assist and guide you in the event you have any questions or issues, regardless of the purchase amount.

       4)        State Contract List Database

Click in the upper left corner to open the database. The information consists of the contract number, contract description, the Procurement Specialist whom you will contact for information regarding that particular contract and the date the current contract expires. Contract expiration dates are updated at the beginning of each month.

To view the actual State Contracts, double click on the particular contract you wish to view. Click on the web address (NC Division of Purchase and Contract), and this will take you into the State Division of Purchase and Contract's web site, where you can see the actual contract.

Contained in the Contract are the items (name brands and model numbers) that are on contract, the price, and the vendor we would purchase that item from to get it at the State Contract price. Also, terms and conditions are specified at the beginning of each contract (i.e. information regarding inside delivery charges, warranty, delivery times, etc.)

State Contracts can be difficult to understand sometimes. Check the LotusNotes  State Contract Listing database to see which Procurement Specialist handles the particular contract you are interested in – that Procurement Specialist can assist you with interpretation of the contract, make suggestions based on experience as to which items may meet your needs the best, and in some cases provide specs/brochures/samples, etc. on the items.
