The Accounting and Reporting Section (AR), along with the Customer Support Section, provides the basis of what are thought of as typical financial functions. The section is responsible for the financial system's integrity, making sure that it will provide accurate timely financial information needed internally by County management and externally by financial statement users such as federal and State agencies, bondholders, and taxpayers. AR staff are charged with maintaining the integrity of the accounting system by monitoring and reconciling accounts daily/monthly, as appropriate, to assure accuracy of the financial data posted in the FAMIS system. Some of the specific areas included within the section include fixed asset accounting and reporting, monthly and year end financial reporting, preparation of the County's single audit schedule required for grant reporting, revenue and receivables management and reporting, as well as debt service payments. The Section is also responsible for IRS 1099 reporting, sales tax, escheats, and debt-related reports required under State and federal law. Daily posting of all cash receipts, journal entries, and account receivable billing are performed by AR staff.
