Plans
Wake County offers
two different medical plans:
CIGNA Open Access Plus – This plan pays more when you use in-network providers. After you meet your deductible, the Open Access Plus plan pays a large percentage of the total cost and you pay the rest (that’s called coinsurance). This is the same type of plan that has been available to you in 2007, but with changes for 2008.
CIGNA Choice Fund HRA – This plan is new to our program for 2008. It features a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) funded by Wake County. Like the Open Access Plus plan, it has a deductible and coinsurance, but Wake County funds the HRA with $500 for Single coverage or $1,000 for Family coverage to help pay for medical expenses. Funds you do not use in 2008 will roll over for you to use in 2009 if you enroll in the Choice Fund again next year. And, remember, Wake County will contribute $150 for Single coverage and $300 for Family coverage – as a one-time incentive when you select the Choice Fund HRA during this year’s annual enrollment.
Improved for 2008: Mental Health Benefits – Mental health and substance abuse benefits are available to you and your covered dependents no matter which medical plan you choose. For 2008, there is no longer any limitation on the number of days, dollar amounts or visits if you use in-network providers. We’ve also added out-of-network coverage for next year.
New for 2008: Vision Plan – We’re pleased to offer this brand-new benefit for 2008. If you elect this plan, which is administered by Vision Service Plan (VSP), you pay the entire cost of coverage, but it gives you and your family access to a network of quality eye-care providers as well as out-of-network coverage. Pre- and post-operative services and laser correction are provided at a discounted rate.
While discounts will vary by location, the
average is 15% off of the laser center’s usual and customary price. To find a network provider in your area, visit www.vsp.com or call 1-800-877-7195.
Dental Plan – Administered by Interactive Medical Systems (IMS), the dental plan gives you access to preventive dental care with no deductible. The amount you pay is determined by the kind of services you receive and the amount charged by the dentist.
